Silcar Communications has been installing cable for internet access to all schools in the Victorian Alpine region and was carrying out much of the work during the recent Great Divide fires. When their Regional Manager VIC/TAS Andrew Henry learned that Bluff Hut had been destroyed he felt that Silcar could do something to help the VHCHA.
Although initially motivated by the loss of Bluff hut Silcar’s management expressed a desire for the money to be spent on the re-building of huts lost in the fires. Silcar’s business activities extend throughout a wide area of the North East and this donation is their way of giving something to the communities in which they work.
In making the presentation of the donation, Mr. Brendan Bolding, Silcar Communications Operations Manager, VIC/TAS said, “We at Silcar hope this donation goes some way to helping the VHCHA re-build and maintain the huts of the high country.” The donation was accepted on behalf of the VHCHA by Vice President Ms Paula Tomsett who thanked Silcar for their generosity and assured him the money would be put to good use.
