| History |
This hut was built by Roney (John Meighan) McNamara, George B
McNamara, Charlie F McNamara and Doug White.
It was initially built as residence for Roney Mac, and a
similar one was built about 200 ft for Doug White (the later was later
demolished by Roney and he re-used the material to build a shed.) Roney
and his son Jack, lived in this hut until the 1953. The skull is the
remains of their milking cow, which they purchased from George
Faithfull.
As there was four McNamara Huts, the names have often
been recorded incorrectly - McNamara's Hut at Buckety Plain
has also been called Roney Mac's Hut, people unaware of this ones
existence. In fact Roney also contributed to its construction as
well.
